Main Library and Departmental Libraries with RFID

You may bring your jackets and bags, your work materials, your notebook and your smartphone (set to silent) into our reading rooms. Non-alcoholic beverages in sealable containers are also permitted . You are not allowed to take open drink containers and food into the reading room area.

Special Collections Reading Room

You must leave your jackets and bags (including laptop bags) in the cloakroom on the ground floor. Drinks (including water) are not permitted in our Speical Collections Reading Room.

Departmental Libraries without RFID

You may only use transparent bags to transport your work materials to the reading rooms of these Departmental Libraries.

Lockers

Lockers can be found in the library entrance area. Tip: Bring a 1 or 2 euro coin (Main Library) or a padlock (departmental libraries). You can also buy a padlock from the Main Library.

Permanent lockers

For students of the University of Würzburg, in addition to the Main Library, the following departmental libraries also offer permanent lockers for 3 months each:

Departmental Library for English, Germanic and Romance Language & Literatures (TB AGR)

Departmental Library for Cultural, Historical and Earth Sciences (TB KGG)

Departmental Library for Law

Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library

Permanent lockers in the Main Library and in the Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library can be ordered via the catalogue.

Transparent bags

If you would like to take your belongings into the reading rooms of our departmental libraries you can use a transparent bag. You may bring your jackets and bags into the reading rooms of the Main Library (with the exception of the Special Collections Reading Room).

Drinks and snacks are available from the vending machines in the University Library cafeteria on the 1st floor of the Main Library. You may also bring your own food and drink.

Use our red break discs to reserve your study desk in the reading room during your break. These are available in the library.

If you want to study in peace and quiet, earplugs can be purchased from the vending machine in the Main Library lobby, the Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library and the Departmental Library for Law.

Do not disturb the others with your language lessons or videos: please bring your own headphones.

You will find a changing table in the accessible toilet on the ground floor of the Main Library. Please ask for the key at the information.
