Maps
The University Library map collection contains more than 700 historic maps from the 16th to 19th centuries covering a wide range of topics. Here you will find street maps, postal route maps, region maps, military maps and city maps. Landscapes, vedutas and atlases enrich the collection.
How are our maps indexed?
Part of the map collection has already been digitised and is available in our collection portal Franconica any time, anywhere.
Search for a specific region or start a free search and see what we have in store.
The collection portal is still under construction but is constantly being updated. If your search is unsuccessful or you have questions about our map collection, please speak to the staff in the Manuscripts and Rare Books department.
How can I see the original collections?
You will need to submit a written application (PDF, 363 KB), with an academic reference and present your ID or passport.
For conservation reasons, you may not be allowed to see some originals. Please get in touch before your visit.
