Subject-specific

Literature on individual historical subdisciplines can be found within the relevant subject areas: history of science, university history and history of education (10/AK …, 10/AL … and 10/D … respectively), church history (10/B …), ancient authors (10/F …) and legal history (20/P …).

There are also two special collections containing literature relevant for historians: Manuscripts and Old Prints, and Franconian regional studies (Special Collections Reading Room, 3rd floor).

Examples of historical bibliographic databases include Historische Bibliographie online, Jahresberichte für Deutsche Geschichte, International Medieval BibliographyOLC History– Online Contents and OLC Contemporary History – Online Contents or Bibliographie zum Nationalsozialismus.

Full-text and fact databases are collections of statistical data, images and text corpora in electronic form. Examples of historical full-text and fact databases include Brill's New Pauly, the Online Medieval Lexicon and the digital Monumenta Germaniae Historica (dMGH).

Specialist portals combining a range of services include Clio online and historicum.net.
